About Ruins & Relics
Homo sapiens have existed for roughly 300,000 years. Detailed written records cover the last few thousand. Everything in between is the greatest mystery there is, and it belongs to everyone.
Ruins & Relics is a field guide to deep human prehistory: the Paleolithic and Neolithic, cave art, the encounters between different human species, and the questions science hasn’t answered yet. We lead with wonder and check everything twice.
What you’ll find here
The Human Timeline: six chapters, 3.3 million years, one page.
The Missing Chapters: the open questions we’re working through, one investigation at a time.
Deep Dives: longer reads on the biggest discoveries and debates, from Göbekli Tepe to the drowned coastlines to the birth of symbolic thought.
How we work
Every piece separates evidence (what the record shows, sources linked) from interpretation (what researchers think it means, labeled as thinking) from open questions (what nobody knows yet, usually the best part). No ancient aliens. No “scientists are baffled.” Reconstructions always labeled.
This is an enthusiast project, written for the curious rather than the already convinced. If you’ve ever stood in front of something ancient and felt the floor tilt a little, you’re in the right place.
